The most Anime saxophone solo ever!
Giorno's Theme (Il Vento D'Oro) from "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" has a burning sax solo in the fun key of G#m for alto saxophone. The saxophonist is Masato Honma, the same sax player as on the Mario Kart theme. This solo sounds like a cross between David Sanborn and Eric Marienthal if you want to dig into some other inspiration.

When you're casually Cannonballing your way through life
Переглядів 14 тис.14 днів тому
Sal Nistico burned down the house playing on "Sister Sadie" with Woody Herman and his Swingin' Herd. He sounds not unlike Cannonball Adderley but on tenor sax to me. Especially the "bounce" he has in his incredible phrasing. Just watching the end, I wonder if he liked playing saxophone, he seemed not too excited about it to say the least. But I am! What do you think? The original video for this...

From one saxophone legend to another... great testimonial from Michael Brecker on his fellow saxophonist and icon, David Sanborn. Taken from Michael Brecker's masterclass in 1984 North Texas State University (NTSU), now called Univ of North Texas. When you actually can sing what you play feat. Chet Baker
Переглядів 12 тис.Місяць тому
Here is a double transcription! Chet Baker scats on "Just Friends" and plays a trumpet solo on it as well, live with Stan Getz in Stockholm 1983. Incredible to see the lines and how it compares to each other. You'll need to do a bit of transposing, I kept the scat solo in C but the trumpet solo in Bb, as that is the common standard for that instrument. You can shoot me later. The full video thi...

He forgot it was supposed to be in DADGAD
is this guitar george?
Sounds like every chon intro/outro in one go
Tenor solo from Inkwell isle three from Cuphead OST, please
Saxes for sue his side hers. Nice.
this sound somewhat like what if radiohead's kid a was only clean guitar, i get that kind of vibe
That's beautiful
Please tell me why I never heard of this dude til today😢😢😂😂😂
this might be pat metheny
This is fucking beautiful my god!! I want to play some of those chords but my guitar isn’t in standard 😫 I’ll just have to match the notes, pitch or feel/texture myself then!
My brain loves it and hates it. It’s honestly pretty beautiful
Felt good to me
I wish the nation still had this kind of vibe around politicians. The fear mongering and bitterness has kinda spoiled that for us 😒
My brain can't figure out if this is great or the worst noise I've heard in my life
Terrible.
Beautiful !
When you're so deep in the jazz rabbit hole that you've forgot what music is supposed to sound like
Basically where I'm at
Jazz is music
i cant put my finger on just why this so unmusical. its like an alien who has mastered an instrument but does not know human emotion
@@rited It doesn't sound unmusical to me.
@@coolcommenter2727 It's just all tension, you could swap around any of these phrases and i think itd feel exactly the same. its doing a lot, but kind of nothing, really. I do enjoy a lot of avant garde music, i just saw Okkyung Lee and John Butcher live which was way out there - but even in its most insane dissonant moments there was some kind of energy and emotion being displayed. this is just super flat and inconsequential. but in that way i have to say its kind of remarkable. its quite unique at least, hence the alien comment
🔥🔥🔥
Parmi l'un des plus beaux chorus d'Allan... et ne pas oublier les autres qui sont fabuleux également.
When you spend all of your skill points on dexterity only.
such a bad take LMAO
People are saying it's too much and at times yes, but when it works, he plays some incredible sequences.
Talk about playing simply but all the right notes. That horn player is amazing! I can see why he was Dancing.
my that tone is nice
Is there a pdf?
Yes, that's a feature we keep for our Patreon.
great! this is precisely what i needed!
What does the "S.T." over the notes like high F# mean?
My guess is split tone but idk for sure
double buzz on purpose
Split Tone. Spit the tone like you're Moses splitting the sea (tip: play a bit louder and aim the air slight more upwards into the mouthpiece. There is a sweet spot between normal sound and a dead sound where it cracks in the middle)

@@SharpElevenMusic Thank you man
It's just technical wankery. You wouldn't appreciate it if you weren't intellectualizing the music. It sounds like anus.
date asks if i can play guitar me:*sees this*...no
What kind of guitar is he playing?
I love Mike Moreno so much. I play a miserable imitation of him when I pick up the instrument.
What kind of weirdo uses his RH pinky? This is what the music sounds like if you do...
Play something that doesn't sound like a retarded cat walking across the fret board... THEN we'd be impressed.
Just Beautiful!!!!
Fantastic
How the H E double hockey sticks did you transcribe this? Thank you anyways!
Sure is something.
I loved all that disonance, fanci sound, so unpredictable
At last❤
Had never heard this one before, it's awesome! I'm a sucker for the live version of the sax solo from Tank! from the Cowboy Bebop OST. ua-cam.com/video/M_25mVjKwcc/v-deo.html&pp=ygUKdGFuayEgbGl2ZQ%3D%3D
This is amazing!!!
Sax on steroids, that's what we all secretly need from time to time. The saxophonist is Masato Honma (not to be confused with also Japanse saxophone great Masato Honda). Honma did also the famous Mario Kart OST (and the Mario Kart lick). Also, let me know if you'd like me top make a tutorial on how to play some of these trick licks etc. -S.T. means: Split Tone -The one with the false fingerings (as shown by the "+"s) is playing a regular B + octave key and add 3 RH and 1,2 LH). You'll need the right cavity to produce that sound as well. Any other OST solos that you like? Anime, games, movies... can be sax but certainly other instruments as well! Subscribe if you want to see an endless stream of solo transcriptions and jazz wisdom. /Jorre
Nice work Jorre, great transcription. Unless I'm mistaken I'm pretty sure the guy who played the Mario Kart Lick and did the soundtrack was Kazuki Katsuta and not Masato Honma, both great players though! Katsuta plays in another band called "DIMENSION" and you can hear him play that lick in practically every solo he does.
Thanks for that input. Do you have some external sources? I'd like to give the right credits, and the usually reliable Discogs website had Honma credited. It's kind of hard on this one, but I'm grateful for you pointing our that potential mistake. On more than 200 transcriptions I did, this one (one of the more pop culture popular ones) has been one of the hardest
Sound like a dry martini 💫
as a bassist i approve of that bass line
Ever since I was just a boy, I've been longing, seeking, NEEDING a tune like this. A piece of me has been restored.
I think the best part about learning an instrument is that music is 10x more complicated to notate than it is to play. You can play some wacky shit and make it sound cool if you feel it through enough and if you were to notate it you would instantly shit yourself
Wow the comments.. Not so open-minded😅
That sounds somewhere between polytonal and microtonal
DAMN
